Blogging Advice: Find Your Passion

How to find your passion to blog

For months, I’ve dreamt of getting this blog up and running. My thoughts are scattered. I don’t really have a specific niche. Sure, I have posts where I’m conducting product reviews, but they’re pretty cheesy posts. They’re definitely not high quality which is what I hope to work up to.

In addition to my product review posts, I want to blog about things are meaningful and will help people when they stumble onto my blog. I want you to stick around, subscribe to my emails and follow me on social media. But how?

What do I blog about?

I listen to many podcasts throughout the day. Sometimes I listen to true crime podcasts, religious and spirituality, personal finance podcasts (serious, 800 Credit Score Man is awesome), and podcasts about side hustles. Two of my faves are Side Hustle School and The Side Hustle Show. I love side hustles. I’m a single mom. I live paycheck to paycheck, but I’m trying to build my business and build my brand. I just haven’t had much time. I’m learning so much valuable information on how to reach customers and really make an impact. I’m a Virtual Assistant (VA), and I love that I am fortunate enough to be able to do that full-time. I also am drawn to blogging. I’m sure some of you (mainly my family members, ha) remember Lala Saves You Money and Win With Lala. I can’t link to them because they don’t exist anymore. I really enjoyed blogging about sweepstakes and deals. I still love saving money when I’m shopping. Now I have A Texas Mom, and what do I do with it? I can’t be all over the place because then I’ll never get traffic that wants to come back and read more!

I want to form a relationship with my readers, but how do I do that? I need to be blogging about something of value to you. I’ve heard and read more than once that you need to blog your passion. Share what you’re always talking about. There’s something we all talk about so much that we probably annoy other people who don’t feel the same way we do. When I sat back and thought about it, I become really passionate when I’m talking about the following:

  • Empowering people to reach their full potential- I truly believe that we all have a purpose. It’s not always easy figuring out what that purpose is, but I love building people up to realize that they can achieve whatever they dream of. It may take some time, and the journey certainly won’t be easy. But, it’s possible. Some people have been beat down their entire lives and made to feel like they’re not good enough, and that is really sad because the opinions of people should never weigh someone down so much that they never rise above mediocrity. Perhaps you’ve made some really bad mistakes in the past, and you can’t seem to move forward. What was done in the past can stay there. It doesn’t have to follow you into your future. I do believe that we all have a desire to move forward in life. It’s natural progression. We are all made for more.
  • Shopping- Hi. My name is Loreina, and I’m a Shopaholic. It’s true!! I love things new and old. I am a nostalgia collector. Or am I a nostalgic collector?? I’m one of those! I collect things that remind my of my childhood such as blue cornflower corningware, old Pyrex, and 80’s Tupperware. I also collect items with Apples on them, and one day I will own a complete set of Franciscan Apple Dishes. A girl can dream, right? My newest thing is 31-bags, and I’m sure that’s because my soul sister sells it. You can find her here at The Love-Lee Bag Lady if you want to join the group. 😉
  • Saving money- How can a shopaholic save money?? I am cheap aka: frugal. I struggled financially for years; even when I was married. It wasn’t until I was on my on with two little children depending on me that I realized something had to change. That’s when I discovered the world of couponing, meal planning, and never paying retail for anything. I cleaned up my credit (which I have since somewhat messed up again, but that’s another blog post. Relapse, blah). I bought a house. I did it all by budgeting and being conscious about what dollar I made was spent on. Sometimes I splurge. Who doesn’t? But saving money is definitely something I am passionate about. As much as I love shopping, I never make impulsive purchases, especially with large items, and I rarely purchase anything at retail price.  And I do believe that if you screw up and fall off the wagon, you can always get back on.
  • Side Hustles- Who knew there were so many side hustles? When I first decided I needed second income to make ends meet, I started researching things I could do from home. I have small children so working a job after my full-time dayjob was out of the question. It took a little searching, but I found several jobs that were great for making a little extra money and not having to leave your house! I worked for Appen for awhile as Social Media Evaluator. I got fired, but it was fun while it lasted. That’s when I stumbled into the world of mystery shopping! It did take time signing up for companies, signing up for jobs on weekends, and mapping my routes. I loved it!! I will actually be listing the companies that I have personally worked for in a post very soon. I then started working part-time as a VA and eventually, that took over. It doesn’t matter if you’re selling makeup, mowing lawns, or decorating t-shirts, with a little hard work and the right marketing, you can make it profitable! No excuses!

Hard Work

I really think the main point I want to get across when I share something that seems kind of out there is that while something may seem like hard work, it will pay off in the end. I understand there are certain circumstances, such as deteriorating health, that make it harder for you to do many different things. That’s understandable. I do think a majority of people have the capability to do more; they just don’t want to. Or, more often than not, they don’t realize they can! That goes back to me empowering people to reach their full potential.

It took me two years of working as a VA part-time before I was finally given opportunity to take it full time. Now, I can work wherever there’s a wi-fi signal. I make my own schedule. I work with some awesome people. I’m learning new things every single day. My business has the potential for growth. I also know that my blog won’t grow overnight, but I do hope to learn more about blogging and gaining traffic that it does grow, and I hope I start to blog about things that are more meaningful and do offer some value to you.

A Texas Mom

So who is A Texas Mom? I’m an empowering mama bear who loves to shop, save money, and WORK HARD! I think I’ve found my niche!! My next post will be about my Amazon Fire Stick. I’ve implemented small changes in our lives that really have helped save money each month. One of the biggest moves I’ve made thus far is cutting satellite. And guess what?? My children have survived. So far anyway. I think that’ll be something you’ll enjoy reading about especially if you’ve been considering cutting that cable cord or sacrificing that satellite. I couldn’t think of anything else that started with a “s” to do to a satellite. Stop the Satellite!! I’m cracking myself up.
